My problems with THor

Just watched Thor after a long time of putting it on the backburner.

okay I did enjoy it very much.  It was a fun movie.  But that’s it.  It was fun.

Being a fan of comic as a kid I have some issues.

1. Stop giving us teasers after the credits.  Most people really don’t stick around for that.  Also I think we learned from Masters of the universe that well, he’s not coming back.  So don’t cock tease.

2. I really really could’ve used a helmet on Thor.  I don’t know the kid in Adventures in Babysitting had one and it’s kind of his trademark.  Well that and the hammer of course.

3. I like the idea that Thor has a secret identity.  I really really think that adds a layer to the character that was missing in the movie.  He was just Thor.  In the comics I love that Eric Masterson is this normal nerdy guy who when he slams the hammer down on the ground becomes this awesome Roman God.

4. I didn’t really buy in that Natalie Portman was a scientist.  Couldn’t you have found any other smart seeming actress?  When she quoted Arthur C. Clarke I wanted to puke.

5. When Thor broke into Shield’s defenses they seemed pretty easy going about letting him go.

6. I think some more backstory with Loki and Thor as kids needed to be reinforced.  Loki selling out all of Asgard to the Frost Giants seemed like quite a tall evil order for him.  Just the fact that he wanted to be king wasn’t enough.  He needed something about Thor that upset him.  Seems like Thor would be an awesome brother.  I know I know he is a Frost Giant and that helps.  But Odin raised him, his whole life was Asgard.  I highly doubt he would turn that evil that quickly.

Other than that not a bad super hero movie.  Although, Kick Ass and Dark Knight are still my toppers.
