Gene Krupa, Martha Tilton, Barbara Stanwyck, and Gary Cooper writing stuff down
I’ll start this off by saying that the star of this musical piece I’m sharing is the wonderfully gifted drummer, Gene Krupa.
I had just seen the Gene Krupa Story which is a pretty incredible story of one of the most talented drummers who felt he was possessed by the devil, pretty neat cause this was before the satanic fad.
Then, I’m doing my Billy Wilder homework and I discover this gem with Stanwyck, who I have a major crush on and the charming leading man,Gary Cooper.
I can’t think of a Barbara Stanwyck movie I don’t like, especially when she’s playing the sinister girl (swooooooon). This movie had it all, including the guy who voiced the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland.
This musical number is so good as Cooper is trying to learn slang talk in the 30’s and 40’s. Barbara isn’t singing here but I sure dig her performance. I almost wish I could see this live but alas that’s the magic of the movies. Barbara can sing and Krupa can go eons without a break.
